The Capital One Investing Scramble Was a Hole In One!

By EW!DC / Published: 07/28/2016

On Monday, July 25th, 70 golfers gathered at Westfields Golf Club to celebrate the 20th anniversary of EW!DC's Scramble Golf Tournament. This year, Capital One Investing came on as the presenting sponsor of the event! Capital One Investing is the full-service brokerage division of Capital One Bank. They are focused on providing a transparent, accessible, straightforward investing experience to educate and empower individual investors, helping them get on the path to financial freedom. Capital One Investing is catering to the belief, as the needs, behaviors and attitudes of investors continue to evolve, they are building the right solutions that empower Americans to invest confidently. EW!DC is so grateful for this support from our presenting sponsor. Capital One has been supporting our organization since 2011 and does so much to help strengthen EW!DC's literacy and mentoring programs.

In spite of the blazing heat, the 19 participating teams enjoyed a day out of the office on the beautiful course at Westfields. After the round, the teams came inside to cool off and enjoy a delicious lunch, as well as the awards ceremony and raffle. After remarks by EW!DC Executive Director, Mary Salander, and Board Chairman, Mark Director, Larry Smith, the anchor of WJLA's Good Morning Washington, joined us as the reception emcee. Larry announced the winners-

Larry also raffled off some incredible items including tickets to Nationals games, a Calloway driver, a weekend stay at Colonial Williamsburg, and several free rounds of golf at courses around the region.

This excellent 20th anniversary Capital One Investing Scramble would not have been possible without out the support of our incredible Scramble Committee members. EW!DC sends a sincere thank you to Peter Brusoe from Bloomberg, Allen Chew from AT&T, Scott Johnson from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, the Honorable Ray LaHood from DLA Piper, Rob Portman from Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC, and Jim Schuler from CTIA

Thank you to all of our sponsors, participants, committee members, and staff for making the Capital One Investing Scramble a great one. See you next year!

"It's a fantastic program, and I think the mentors get as much, if not more, than the student. You meet wonderful kids and have lots of fun."
