On Tuesday, October 11th, nearly 60 students from School Without Walls at Francis Stevens (SWWFS), a public school in Northwest Washington received a special distribution of backpacks, school supplies, and books courtesy of Microsoft. All the students are participants in the Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) Power Lunch program, a literacy program that promotes the love of reading through a one-on-one mentoring relationship.
On Tuesday, September 27th, before the Washington Nationals took on the Diamondbacks, Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC) Executive Director, Mary Salander, stepped onto the field to accept a Delta Dream Grant from the Nationals Dream Foundation and Delta Airlines. The Delta Dream Grant for $15,000 will go to support the EW!DC Power Lunch program in 11 low-income elementary schools around the DC Metro Area.
Recently, DCPS released the results of the PARCC tests that were given to 3-8th grade students during the 2016 school year. Students were tested on English Language Arts (ELA) and math. Results from the 2016 tests showed a slight improvement in scores for both ELA and math across the district.
Title sponsor, AgriBank, the St. Paul-based Farm Credit Bank, once again partnered with Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC), the Washington Metropolitan Area’s largest children’s literacy and mentoring non-profit, to present the 2016 AgriBank Ag Open golf tournament on Tuesday, September 6th at Queenstown Harbor.
